IMPACT-Cambodia on 18 and 19 July organized training on Ear Disease, Early Identification and Treatment, and the use of Otoscope. This was the second training step of the training and it was conducted by Ms. Giuliana Duret , teacher from Italy.
Sixty two heath center nurses from 62 health centers and four representatives of Operational Districts participated in these two day training. The trainees learnt the ear anatomy, the ear infections, symptoms and treatment. Knowledge on how ear disease, its complication should be managed and treated were also provided together with the prevention measure which include proper pre-natal care, complete vaccination against childhood disease, counseling on ear hygiene, and ear care.
The nurses were trained how to use Otoscopes and they practiced among themselves. Thirty Otoscopes will be soon provided to the most active health centers for ear consultations at their health centers. IMPACT Cambodia has a plan to provide this kind of training to all the health centers in Kandal province by 2011.
