As part of its Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) programme, in late March, IMPACT-Cambodia conducted a series of three ENT Screening and Treatment sessions in Malai, Svay Chek, and Thmor Puok districts in Banteay Meanchey province.
On the 28th of March 2018, the screening and treatment session took place in Malai Hospital in Malai District, near Cambodia-Thailand border. There were 133 people screened and treated on spot by the IMPACT Cambodia team. 15 patients were diagnosed with Chronic Otitis Media, chronic inflammation of the skin lining the external ear canal leading to the ear drum, and need to be transferred for operation in Phnom Penh.
On the 29th of March 2018, the team conducted an ENT screening in Svay Chek Hospital in Svay Chek District. This was a second time as it was suggested by the Director of the Hospital after we conducted the first Screening session in December 2017 at the hospital. 108 people including 23 children were screened and treated. 8 patients were diagnosed with Chronic Otitis Media. Our doctors made appointments for them for follow up in Phnom Penh. Another 15 patients were diagnosed with hearing lose and need to use the Hearing Aids, and they too were to have a follow up and Audiogram Test at IMPACT-Cambodia.
On the 30th of March 2018, the team worked in Kumrou Health Center, located in Kaksen Village, Thmor Puok Commune, Thmor Puok District. There were 93 people screened and treated on spot by our doctors. 8 people were diagnosed with ear disease and they received treatment on spot; and other 2 patients were diagnosed with Chronic Otitis Media and were sent for the follow up in Phnom Penh.
