The maternity unit of Peam Oknha Ong referral hospital was inaugurated by Mrs Judi Stagg, Chief Executive of IMPACT Foundation UK on 20th November 2013.
The new Maternity Unit has been helped not only the local people but also the people from other villages and neighbouring province. There are 15 to 20 pregnant women per day come to have prenatal check-up, and delivery happens every day. The vaccination for infants and children under five years old has 30 to 50 children in every month. On the inauguration day, there were four pregnant women had been delivered at the maternity unit (they came from the different villages), and one of the 1000 Days members in Prek Rey village came to stay there for following up her health due to the problem of high blood pressure and diabetes.
All the emergency cases were transferred to this maternity unit, because it is a central maternity unit that covering all communes in Lvea Em district. In this reporting period, IC has saved four lives and two other mothers were not in our 1000 Days members.
