Tep Thou, 44 years old, lives in Kandal commune, Toek Chhou district, Kampot Provice. She left her hometown to live with her husband, Sok Sovann (has carried hepatitis) Kean Svay district, Kandal province. They are both working as garment workers. Thou and Sovann financial condition is not as good as they have hoped it would be. They were living from hand to mouth for the income rate is very low and for the daily expense on food as well. Thou felt pain in her lower abdominal for almost a year but never showed or let her husband know. Until one day, she could not hide it anymore as it smelled so strong with blood, and because for almost a year she has never been to the hospital due to her financial problem, Thou finally decided to tell her husband what she has gone through. Thou went to The Cambodia Center for the Protection of Children’s Right. The result showed that Thou is having ovarian cyst. After consulting with doctor, she said that she could not afford the operation fee. “I cannot afford it, the fee. I just can’t afford it. I don’t know if I can save up for the operation fee or not.” Said Tep Thou and left.
One week later the CCPCR team, working in Tep Thou Village called IC to inform us that Tep Thou is seriously sick and cannot even walk, IC sent our Mid wife and the car to pick her up from her village. We, IC, could not stay still but help her out. We took Tep Thou to maternity unit of Phreah Ang Duong Hospital. She received a successful surgery on 21st March 2017. On 7th April 2017, IC made a call to ask her condition if she was feeling better or needed to come back if she is not completely fine.
“I am pretty fine and can now go back to work, too. I would love to thank IMPACT-Cambodia, CCPRC and PADH with my whole heart for the enormous help. Without knowing you, my life would have been worst. Thank you so much. I reminisce about your help with my husband and coworkers a lot.” Tep Thou said.
