Lvea Em Referral Hospital received a set of cesarean equipment from IMPACT Cambodia and Ultrasound Machine was included in this equipment set. There are 40-50 people receive service from the ultrasound every month. So far, 500 people received service from the ultrasound. 50% of them are pregnant women.
Here is the story of one of the patients who came to receive ultrasound service:
San Sok
San Sok, 38, is a farmer who lives in Peam Ta Aek Village, Peam Ta Ong Commune, Lvea Em District, Kandal Province. She is one of the patients who came to receive ultrasound service at Peam Oknha Ong Operating Theater.
Sok had abdominal pain for months. She was afraid that she would suffer from vaginal problem. She did not know where she could go for ultrasound test in her district. Luckily, one day, her neighbor told her that ultrasound test service can be found at Peam Oknha Ong Health Center. Sok came to receive the ultrasound service at Lvea Em Referral Hospital on 16 October 2014 and the result showed that she had Ovarian cyst. The doctors explained her about the risk of this cyst and she needed to have surgery as soon as possible.
Four days later, she decided to come to the hospital in Phnom Penh. On 20 October 2014, Sok finally received surgery from doctors at NMCHC. She is now getting a lot better. She is happy that ultrasound service can finally exist at Lvea Em Referral Hospital. “If it was not because of the ultrasound service, my life could have gone worst. I wouldn’t be able to receive treatment on time.” – Said San Sok
